The Westin Monache Resort, Mammoth
The Westin Monache Resort in Mammoth, CA is part of the Marriott brand of hotels. This hotel is a beautiful dog-friendly resort and is currently being remodeled this fall of 2021. We had stayed at this resort without our dog a couple of years ago and loved it. We had been waiting for the opportunity to stay again. Therefore, I was surprised when I read reviews for the hotel from the summer of 2021 that made it sound like there may be problems, but Don’t Worry, they are in the process of remodeling the hotel and the floors that are complete, are beautiful. The floor that we were staying on was completely done and our whole family loved the new look. When you choose your room to book, be advised that there are several different configurations of rooms. If you are looking for a specific type of room, you might want to call the hotel if you don’t see it on the web site. Our room had a king bed, couch, fireplace, small kitchen area, and a great elevated window lounge area that you could sit, relax, and look out at the mountains. Our room was perfect for us and had the perfect amount of room to relax when we weren’t outdoors exploring, hiking, and enjoying the shops. The hotel even provided bathrobes to use during our stay. It was definitely a relaxing stay for us as well as for our dog. We did not eat at the restaurant on the hotel site as there were other places that we were looking forward to dining at, so we do not have a review for the hotel restaurant.
The hotel is conveniently located across the street from the Mammoth Village and right off Lake Mary Road making it a great location and easy access to many of the activities that you may want to participate in. The hotel also has a dog bathroom area on the one side of the hotel with clean-up bags and hand-sanitizer. We always have our own bags, but were pleasantly surprised to see that they were providing this convenience. On another positive note, all of the staff that we interacted with were very friendly and helpful.
The Mammoth Lakes area has a lot of outdoor activities that you can enjoy with your dog. Whether you are making it your destination or you are just staying a couple nights as a stop over to Lake Tahoe or Yosemite, we think you will love the town and area. Please remember that you cannot leave your dog unattended in the hotel room. So if you plan on doing an activity like skiing/snowboarding, someone will need to stay with your dog. For all other activities, you should want to take your dog with you.

A side note, the town is called Mammoth Lakes, but goes by the names of Mammoth and Mammoth Mountain as well.
