About Us

Our story began with a simple question:

How do you travel with your dog and make sure you’re prepared?

When we started planning trips with our own dogs, we quickly realized just how much we didn’t know.

What should we bring? How should we prepare? What happens when a destination says it’s “dog-friendly,” but doesn’t tell you much beyond that? And how do you make traveling comfortable, enjoyable and safer for the dog who’s coming along for the adventure?

We searched high and low for reliable information and often found ourselves piecing together answers from multiple places.

So we decided to create the resource we wished we’d had.

And Traveling Dogs Life began.

🐾 What We’ve Learned Along the Way

Over the years, we’ve traveled with our dogs, tried plenty of dog travel gear, changed plans when things didn’t work out the way we expected, discovered places we never would have found if we weren’t traveling with a dog—and learned quite a few lessons along the way.

Some adventures have gone exactly as planned.

Others?

Not even close. 😂

But that’s real-life travel with dogs.

Here, we share those experiences honestly: the places we’ve enjoyed, the things that surprised us, the products that have genuinely worked for us, the things we’d do differently next time and the practical details we wish someone had told us before we went.

We’re not trying to make traveling with dogs look perfect.

We’re trying to make it easier.

❤️🐾 Why We Do This

We may never meet you or your dog.

But we care about both of you.

We want you to have wonderful travels, great adventures and plenty of ordinary days together that someday become the memories you treasure most.

That’s why we share more than places that simply allow dogs.

We share what we’ve learned along the way—the things that worked, the things we’d do differently, what we pack, what we watch out for and sometimes when we think leaving your dog at home may actually be the better choice.

Because we’ve learned that dog-friendly doesn’t always mean right for every dog, every day or every situation.

Our philosophy is pretty simple:

Prepare for the things you hope never happen. Pay attention to conditions. Don’t assume equipment replaces supervision. And don’t put your dog into a situation simply because dogs are technically allowed there.

The goal isn’t to take our dogs everywhere.

It’s to give them adventures they can safely enjoy—and a lifetime of good days together. ❤️

🐶 What We Believe

Great dog-friendly travel starts with preparation, but it shouldn’t end there.

The best trips leave room for spontaneity, exploration, changing the plan when necessary and plenty of time to simply enjoy being together.

A few things guide the way we travel and what we share here:

Practicality: Advice should work in the real world, not just look good on paper.

Safety & Comfort: Our dogs’ safety, comfort, abilities and well-being matter more than checking another destination off a list.

Preparedness: A little planning—and having the right things with you—can prevent a small problem from becoming a much bigger one.

Flexibility: Sometimes traveling with a dog means changing the plan. And sometimes Plan B turns out to be better than Plan A.

Discovery: Traveling with dogs can lead us to places and experiences we never would have discovered otherwise.

Honesty: If we love something, we’ll tell you. If something didn’t work for us, we’ll tell you that, too. And we won’t recommend a product simply because there’s an affiliate link available.

Togetherness: At the end of the day, the destination is only part of the story. Some of the best memories happen in the ordinary moments in between.

🗺️ How We Help Dog Travelers

Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway, a long road trip, a beach day, an outdoor adventure or simply wondering what you should pack before leaving home, our goal is to make finding the information you need a little easier.

You’ll find:

  • Dog-friendly destinations we’ve actually experienced
  • Places to stay with your dog
  • Practical packing and travel tips
  • Safety information supported by credible sources
  • Dog travel gear we actually use and recommend
  • The real-life lessons we’ve learned along the way

We do the research, share our firsthand experiences and bring the useful pieces together so you can make informed decisions for your dog and your adventure.

Because every dog is different.

What works beautifully for one may not be right for another.

And that’s okay.

🐾 Our Goal Is Simple

When we started Traveling Dogs Life, our goal was to help other dog parents feel more confident about traveling with their dogs.

That hasn’t changed.

If anything, it’s become even clearer.

We want to help you simplify travel with your dog—so you can spend less time worrying about the details and more time enjoying the journey together.

Prepare well.

Stay flexible.

Know your dog.

Take the pictures—even the ordinary ones. 📸🐾

And enjoy the time you have together.

Those ordinary days, weekend trips and big adventures have a funny way of becoming lifetime memories. ❤️

🐾 A Quick Paws-Up

Our adventures, recommendations and product experiences are based on our own travels, research and experiences with our dogs. Your experience may be different—and because pet policies, prices, hours, rules and conditions can change, we always recommend confirming current information directly with the destination, business or appropriate official source before you go.

Every dog is different, too. A product, destination or experience that works well for our dogs may not be the right fit for yours. We share what has worked for us to help you make more informed decisions for your own four-legged travel buddy.
