As dog lovers—and owners of some seriously enthusiastic power chewers—we’ve been through a LOT of toys.
We’ve bought the ones labeled tough.
We’ve tried the heavy-duty ones.
And yes, we’ve fallen for the ones that practically dare your dog to destroy them.
Challenge accepted, apparently. 😂
Our dogs have put toys through their own very scientific testing process:
Chewing. Tugging. Chasing. Tossing. Fetching. And general dog-induced mayhem.
And honestly?
A lot of toys didn’t make the cut.
But every now and then, we find a winner.
🏆 The Tough Dog Toys That Earned a Spot in Our House
After all that playing, chewing and testing, we’ve narrowed things down to the balls, chew toys and tug toys our dogs actually love—and that have held up better than most.
Are they completely indestructible?
Nope.
We’ve had some last far longer than we ever expected, but with enough time, teeth and determination, even a great toy can eventually show wear.
We haven’t found a dog toy that we’re comfortable calling completely indestructible.

💙 Wait…Why Do Our Dogs Keep Choosing the Blue Toys?
While watching our dogs choose their favorites, we noticed something funny.
They kept going for the blue toys.
At first, we figured our dogs were just being picky.
Then we learned there might actually be a reason.
Dogs don’t see the same range of colors humans do. Blue and yellow are among the colors they can distinguish particularly well, while some colors that look very different to us may appear much less distinct to them.
So maybe our dogs weren’t being picky after all.
Maybe they knew exactly what they were doing. 🐶💙

🐾 One Last Paws-Up About Toy Safety
No dog toy is truly indestructible.
Always supervise your dog during play and regularly inspect toys for damage. If pieces become loose or your dog begins tearing a toy apart, take it away and replace it.
Our dogs may consider destroying a toy a personal accomplishment.

- SPOT Play Strong Scent-sations Ball We call this our crazy blue ball as it is one of our dog’s most coveted toys. The only down side we found was that although it floats in our pool, after the dogs have played with it and made holes, the ball will fill up with water. - Nerf Dog Ball Blaster Launcher Toy We do not have this exact Nerf launcher because we originally bought ours at Costco and it has a ball holder attachment that holds three balls, and the one listed below has an attachment but only holds one ball, but it is the closest thing I could find to the one we own. We prefer the Chuckit! Ultra Dog Ball & Launcher as we can launch the ball a lot further and is easier to carry. The Nerf Dog Launcher has a much shorter distance that it launches the ball, but it still does have a place in filling a need though. It is handy to use if you possibly have shoulder trouble and/or are unable to really throw a ball with the Chuckit!
